Thankyou Everyone!

A big thankyou to everyone who has contributed to Sew Cuddly! I have been astounded by the fabulous response. I was originally going to to drive the toys to Toowoomba myself, but we have had such a big response that I can't fit all the boxes in my car! We are currently negotiating with some freight companies for discounted or free transport to get them to Toowoomba.

Once again, thankyou all for your great efforts!

I'll keep you posted and let you know when they get there.

Check out these goodies...
Crotcheted (or are they knitted?) rattles. A peach tree, a pine tree and an apple tree.

A lovely soft cuddle blanket. the pattern (which is hard to see in the photo) is cats looking over a wall.
Tiger and Panda (I think these two are best friends).

A teddy, an owl and cute little girl.
Six super sisters

Lots more photos to come. If any of your creations haven't appeared yet, they are on their way. Also if you woud like your name to appear with the photo, let me know through the comments which toy is yours and if there is a link to the pattern you used and I will put this information up.

A Quilt

I made this from bits and pieces in the stash last night. I haven't made anything like this before and I really enjoyed it.

I need to borrow a walking foot to quilt and bind this, but I think there might be some more quilts in my not-too-distant future.

Dinosaur

A Valentine's Dinosaur
The pattern I used is here, http://rhythmofthehome.com/archives/autumn-2010/michaelmas-dragon/,  but I left off the dragon's wings and ears to make a dinosaur.

Thankyou

A big thankyou goes to Vicki, Emma and Oliver. Emma and Oliver saved up their pocket money to buy some nappies, wipes and baby food. We will take these up with the toys.

Thankyou Oliver and Emma!

A Challenge...

Thirty days has September,
April, June and November.
All the rest have thirty-one
Except February, which has twenty-eight
And a toy on each of them.

Here's today's toy, a little black and white cat. She's based on a pattern from Amy Butler's Little Stitches for Little Ones.

So, the challenge is to make a toy for every day of February...let's see how this goes.

Flutterby Butterfly

I've been making butterflies. Lovely for girls, now to make some 'boy' toys too. Good thing it's too hot to go outside, I can spend the day at the sewing machine...under the fan!

Welcome to Sew Cuddly!

Hello and welcome to Sew Cuddly!

We are Yvette (from Sew Beautiful in Springwood, NSW) and Liz (a stay-at-home-mum) and we have joined together to create Sew Cuddly.

Sew Cuddly is our response to the tragic events in South East Queensland this January. As mothers of small children, we understand the importance that special toys hold for children. Cuddlies, blankies, bed friends, loveys, call them what you will, these are things that children love. We hope to give the children affected by these floods a little bit of handmade joy and someone or something special to hold onto in these stressful times.

Perhaps you are an experienced sewist, perhaps you have made many wonderful things, or maybe this is your first foray into handcrafts... Whoever you are and whatever your medium, we need your help! You can help us by making, sewing, knitting, crocheting, felting, or quilting a toy, blankie or snuggly and delivering or mailing it to;
   Sew Cuddly
   c/o- Sew Beautiful
   1/121 Macquarie Road
   Springwood NSW 2777

At the moment we looking to donate to the children of the Grantham/Toowoomba region and we are hoping to arrange distribution through Lions Club.

Please spread the word by sharing this with your friends. Let's put some smiles on lots and lots of little faces!
